SOMETHING'S COMING...It's Here!!!

The Carr Center Performance Studio

New Standards: A Multimedia Installation

Curated by Terri Lyne Carrington

The Carr Center is a multi-disciplinary art center with the mission to preserve, present, promote, and develop the African and African American cultural arts traditions within our multicultural community. The Carr Center leverages the essence of the African American cultural experience to inspire, entertain, challenge, and educate.

For 30 years, we have been true to this mission. Help us as we lay the foundation for another generation of high quality visual and performing arts programs. Make a contribution to our Something's Coming...Soon campaign.

The goal for this brief campaign us $100,000. Please help us meet our goal!

With your Contribution...

  • You’ll support concerts, films, dance and so much more in the Carr Center Performance Studio.

  • You’ll support our programs for young creatives in music and dance

  • You’ll support emerging jazz, visual arts, and arts administration professionals to be mentored by the best.

  • You’ll support Detroit based artists of color having a home – right in the Cultural District – to make and do their work.

In October, two Special Events culminated the year-long celebration of our 30th anniversary.

  • On October 12 we gave the public Sneak Peak of the new Carr Center Performance Studio in Detroit's Midtown Cultural District.
  • On October 13 we hosted the world premiere of New Standards, a multimedia exhibition - with music, film, sculpture and more - all curated by our Artistic Director Terri Lyne Carrington.
  • For 3 weekends in October, we produced a 13 concert Jazz Crawl, with 7 of our Cultural District neighbors joining us as concert venues. We saw old friends and made many new ones.

As we move toward year-end, please consider a gift to the Carr Center. Your contribution will assist us in continuing to bring high quality programs to Detroit, our region, the nation, and the world!
